You can craft many types of Runes in the Runic Altar from Level 35+.
What are the current Runes in-game?
Here is the list of Runes currently in-game, each exists in five tiers from [I] to [V] and increases the corresponding stat:
- Attack Power Rune
- Spell Power Rune
- Strength Rune
- Agility Rune
- Intellect Rune
- Stamina Rune
- Melee Defense Rune
- Magic Defense Rune
- Melee Accuracy Rune
- Magic Accuracy Rune
- Melee Crit Rune (Crit damage)
- Magic Crit Rune (Crit damage)
- Life Rune(max HP)
- Mental Rune(max MP)
- Dark Resist Rune
- Light Resist Rune
- Fire Resist Rune
- Frost Resist Rune
- Poison Resist Rune
The most valuable Runes are usually the 4 bases stats, Spell/Attack Power, Melee/Magic Crit, Melee Magic Defense.
Element Resists can be useful if you are weak to a specific element, and Life/Mental Runes are not that valuable compared to other Runes.
How to get the best Runes and highest tier?
All runes types are equiprobable when you craft a new Rune, so it is just luck based.
However the higher the tier of the altar, the higher the chance to get a high tier Rune
Also using Rubies increases the chance of getting a Rune of the same or higher tier of the altar (but doesn’t guarantee it either, worst case you may still get Gold instead of a Rune!)
Generally speaking you may consider:
- Using Runes [I] and [II] only as feeder to level up your Runes (equip them until you get better)
- Using Rune [III] at first, then [IV] and eventually [V]. However Rune [V] are EXTREMELY RARE and hard to get, even if you do many crafts there is no guarantee you will get one, especially as there are so many types of Runes you may also get one not that great for your class.
- Using Gold to craft Runes when the Altar is on Tier 1 and 2, and using Rubies when the Altar is on Tier 4 and 5 as you will have a good chance to get a Rune [IV] (otherwise [III] and if lucky a Rune [V] maybe!). When the Altar is on Tier 3, it depends how many Rubies you have… 🙂 it is unlikely you get better than a Rune [III] but it can help to move the Altar to higher tiers
How to upgrade Runes and what is the Runes max level?
You will need unused Runes to level up the Runes you want to socket in the Altar.
When you fuse Runes, they will add experience based on their rarity and level.
The number of experience points to level up is the same for all Runes rarity, and increases with the Rune level. The EXP given is equal to the number of experience points + the base EXP of the Rune which depends on its rarity (for instance 15 for a Rune [I] and 60 for a Rune [IV]); so a high level Rune will give more or less the same EXP whatever its rarity.
The max Rune level is as follows:
- Rune [I]: level 20
- Rune [II] level 27
- Rune [III]: level 35
- Rune [IV]: level 45
- Rune [V]: level 60
From level 18 and higher, you will need 2,640 EXP to level up a Rune.
For most players the key is to increase the Rune level, more than the Rune tier. A higher level Rune III will be better than a lower level tier V.
For instance at lv35, a Crit Rune [III] gives +89% Crit Dmg and a Rune [IV] gives +99%. A Rune [V] will give +93% at lv25 and can go up to level 60, but most players won’t reach that level anytime soon. 🙂
The strategy is thus to upgrade the Runes, no need to wait to have the highest tier at first!
Then when you get a better tier you can fuse them with the high level Runes you have.
Let’s say you added 1000 EXP to a Rune [III], then when you fuse it, it will give 1000+45 EXP to your Rune. So your upgrade investment will be "transferred" basically later on, so nothing to lose in levelling up the Runes.
