Click the ‘+’ button on the bottom right corner of the main menu-> Friend-> Friend page -> Click the one you want -> View Profile -> ‘Remove Friend’ on the right.
After you delete a friend, you are still in her/his friend list, and she/he can still invite you to a battle.
