Visit PokéStops and Gyms around the world to gather Poké Balls, Potions, Eggs, and other items. You’ll find these locations near public art, unique architecture, or public gathering places. When you visit PokéStops and Gyms, spin the Photo Disc to generate items for your inventory.
Getting Items from PokéStops
To spin the Photo Disc at PokéStops:
Once you’ve collected items from the PokéStop, it will cool down for a short period of time. It will turn purple to indicate that it is inactive. Once the cooldown period is over, it will return to blue and you can collect items again. To help you explore new places in the real world, PokéStops you haven’t previously visited will appear surrounded by rings. Once you spin the Photo Disc, the ring will disappear indicating that you’ve explored this location.
Getting Items from Gyms
You can also spin the Photo Disc at Gyms to collect inventory items. When you collect items at Gyms, there is a greater likelihood to find items that aid in battle — like Potions and Revives.
To spin the Photo Disc at Gyms:
Just like with PokéStops, you’ll have to wait a short period of time before you can spin the Photo Disc again. You’ll earn bonus items when visiting Gyms controlled by your team. If you have a Badge for the Gym you’re visiting, you will earn additional bonus items as well.
