Combat: Wizarding Challenges – Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Guide

To win a Wizarding Challenge, you and your team must defeat all the Foes. The number of Foes in your Challenge will be shown in the top-right corner of the Arena screen. As soon as the Wizarding Challenge begins, the timer starts ticking. If the timer runs out and you haven’t defeated all the Foes, you fail the Wizarding Challenge.

Strategic Spells & Focus

Before you engage a Foe in combat, you can use Focus resources to activate Strategic Spells that can impair Foes or enhance Teammates. Drag a Strategic Spell from the tray at the bottom of the screen to a player or Foe to apply it. Tap a Strategic Spell to see the description of its effects and the amount of Focus it will consume.   The Focus meter at the bottom indicates the amount of Focus you have. Strategic Spells consume Focus to cast before combat. You can replenish your team’s Focus by defeating Foes.

Combat

To begin combat, tap on a Foe to open details about the combat encounter. You cannot enter an encounter where a Teammate is already engaged; however, you can cast Strategic Spells to influence the outcome of the fight.  When ready, tap Start to begin the combat encounter.  Combat Details

  • Foe’s name
  • Your Profession affinity against the Foe’s type. (+)  for an advantage or (-) for a disadvantage.
  • Foe’s type (Dark Forces, Beasts, or Curiosities)
  • Foe’s image (The border that surrounds the Foe indicates if it is common or Elite)
  • Foe’s level (A larger number indicates a higher difficulty Foe)
  • Foe’s star rating (More stars indicate rarer and more challenging Foes)
  • Foe’s health bar
  • Foe’s Impairments (The tiles are arranged in the same order as the player alignment on your Arena Map. Each Teammate has a tile that will display any Impairments they’ve done to the Foe.)
  • Items the Foe will drop when it’s defeated
  • Toggle AR camera mode
  • START combat
  • Attacking & Defending

In combat, you must attack your Foe and defend against their attacks. To attack, press the screen and use your finger to drag your wand’s target over the target icon. Once the meter is filled, cast the spell by tracing the glyph.  To defend, drag your finger across the arrow that appears on your screen before the Foe attacks. Successfully defending reduces the amount of damage you take. Use Potions to heal so you don’t run out of Stamina and get knocked out temporarily. The battle ends when you or the Foe runs out of Stamina (measured by the health meter next to each opponent’s name).

    About Elite Foes

Elite Foes are more challenging variants of the Foes you’ll face. You’ll know if you’ve encountered this unique enemy if their health meter is purple, and the ‘Elite’ title appears before their name (for example, Elite Erkling). Participating in higher difficulty Chambers increases your chances of encountering an Elite Foe.

    Tips for Winning Wizarding Challenges

    • Play with friends. In addition to unlocking a larger reward, you can divide and conquer your Foes.
    • Attacking consumes your Spell Energy so be sure to visit Inns to replenish your Spell Energy before entering a Chamber.
    • Join a Wizarding Challenges with some Potions in your Vault. Potions can be used to replenish your Stamina and increase your chance of success in combat.
    • Your Profession influences your combat proficiency in Wizarding Challenges. Each one has an affinity advantage against certain Foes, as well as an affinity disadvantage against other Foes. For example, Professors deal additional damage to Curiosities, like Pixies, but sustain more damage when battling against Dark Forces, like Death Eaters. Unite with other wizards and witches and form diverse teams to take advantage of these affinities.
    • Use Strategic Spells to help your Teammates and increase your chances of winning.
