If you see some contact photos appearing very small, here are 2 workarounds you can try:
1. Turn Overwrite photo setting On. This will replace the existing photos in your device. More info about Overwrite is here: http://bit.ly/1nfyN7A
2. For photos that remained small you can remove the photo from your device contact list. Then sync your contacts.
